Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
enior student at Dunbar Vocational Career Academy, desiring to further his/her education through an accredited college or recognized apprenticeship program. (The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to interpret “accredited” and “recognized.”)
Applicant must NOT be deficient in credits required at Dunbar Vocational Career Academy, as of 30th week.
Completed application must be submitted to the Scholarship Chairman, Dunbar Vocational High School Alumni Association, Inc. on or before March 15, 2023 before the end of the school day
Applicant must graduate on the scheduled graduation date in June of that year.
Applicant must have scholarship announced at the graduation ceremony.
Applicant must matriculate to an accredited college or apprenticeship program on or before October 1st following graduation.
Application Guidelines
Request a transcript of records to be mailed to DUNBAR VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, INC. on or before 3/15/2024
Explain in detail your future educational and work goals. Attach as many sheets as necessary.
Submit copy of school identification.
If you are the recipient of Paul Laurence Dunbar Scholarship, you must provide proof of matriculation, in writing, to an accredited college or recognized apprenticeship program no later than October 1st of that year of your graduation. No monies will be released until proof or matriculation has been secured by the Scholarship Committee. If proof is not provided by October 1st of that year, the Scholarship will be void.
Application
The Paul Laurence Dunbar Alumni Scholarship Picnic Foundation is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit foundation. The Foundation, organized by former graduates, was established in 2009 to practice and promote the importance of high scholastic achievement. The Foundation is pleased to offer the possibility of a one-time scholarship to qualifying graduating seniors of Dunbar Vocational Career Academy’s Class of 2024.
Current graduating Dunbar Vocational Career Academy seniors interested in applying must use the link below to complete the submission in its entirety no later than March 16, 2024. Please note incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.
The Dunbar Vocational Career Academy Alumni Scholarship is not a four-year scholarship and is not renewable. The scholarship can only be used during the 2024 - 2025 school year or it will be forfeited. The full disbursement will be issued in the Fall 2024 semester. If the recipient transfers to another school during the 2024 – 2025 school year they must notify the scholarship committee immediately, otherwise the scholarship will be forfeited.
